WELCOME TO NAINE!

The main purpose of the NAINE network is to contribute to increased number of EU proposals within AI involving Norwegian institutions. NAINE is open for everyone in Norway interested in AI and national and European collaboration.

INVITATION TO EVENT

NAINE EVENT: THE NORWEGIAN AI STRATEGY
The Norwegian AI strategy will be released on the 14th of January. Shortly after, on the 30th of January, we would like to invite you to a breakfast seminar with a presentation of the strategy and discussion of the implications. Registration here.

Program (8:30-10:30):
  • Registration, coffee and simple breakfast
  • Introduction, Anne Marthine Rustad, SINTEF
  • Presentation of the Norwegian AI strategy, Christine Hafskjold, Ministry of Local Government and Modernisation (KMD)
  • Questions and discussion
The meeting will take place at SINTEF Digital, Forskningsveien 1, Oslo, and we will provide a simple breakfast.

EU Robotics Calls Brokerage Day - Robotics & AI in H2020 - ICT-2018-2020. November 26 2019, Brussels
Report by Kai Olav Ellefsen, Dept. of Informatics, University of Oslo

The goal of the event was to present the AI and Robotics calls from EU in 2020, and to stimulate building of consortia by allowing interested researchers to present their project ideas and competences. All calls have deadlines April 22 2020.
ICT-46-2020: Robotics in Application Areas and Coordination & Support
Projects must target one of four core technologies in AI/Robotics and apply those within healthcare, inspection/maintenance, agri-food, and agile production. The core technologies are:
  • AI/Cognition: Robots that can adapt to their environment, be aware of their surroundings
  • Cognitive Mechatronics: Robotic systems where action, perception and reasoning are closely linked
  • Socially cooperative robots: Communication, interaction between humans and robots, working together
  • Model-based design and configuration tools: Making tools that make it easier for industrial non-experts to apply robotics
Key to all 4 core technologies: Building reusable modules that allow others to use the technology you develop.

There are three actions under this call:

  1. Research and Innovation Action: Targeting a step-change in technology (not an incremental advance) at TRL 3 or above. Project should focus on ONE of the core technologies above. It is a requirement the projects are linked to a Digital Innovation Hub to test out practical application of the technology.
  2. Large-scale pilots: Application of existing technology, demonstrating how it can be applied at scale and produce value for industry. These should be focused on the Agri-Food or Agile Production application areas.
  3. Coordination and support: Targeted at consortia of mixed capabilities (technology, economics, ethics etc.) helping the AI/Robotics community with things like knowledge transfer, developing best practices etc.
DT-ICT-12-2020: AI for the smart hospital of the future (Innovation Action)
Large-scale pilots for demonstration of existing technology AI and robotics technology for use in actual full-scale hospital settings.

ICT-49-2020: European AI-on-demand platform (up to 5M euro)
To make THE central access point for shared AI-services/resources for Europe. Projects in this call should build on the AI4EU-platform developed in previous projects, aiming to drastically expand the user base and accelerate the use of AI4EU.
Digital Innovation Hubs
Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) are a means to support businesses in their digital transformation and in promoting cooperation among them. Proposals for ICT-46/47 are required to link up to existing DIHs for providing tests and proof of concept of their developed technology. Some networks of DIHs

  • DIH-HERO: European network focused on robotics in healthcare.
  • agROBOfood: Boosting the adoption of robotic technologies in the European agri-food sector.
  • DIH-Squared: Aims to create network driving growth in European manufacturing robotics market. Develop a platform enabling digitized factory production
  • TRINITY: Focus on Agile Production, with 3 key areas: Robotics, Internet of Things, and Cybersecurity.
  • RIMA: Robotics for inspection and maintenance of infrastructures. Support uptake of robotics by industry. Industry areas: Energy, water, oil/gas, nuclear and transport.
  • RobMoSys: Aims to form a European ecosystem for open and sustainable industry-grade software development for robotics.
  • ROSIN: Aims to speed-up industrial uptake of advanced robotics applications. Robot Operating System (ROS) for an open-source EU Digital Industrial Platform for Robotics
  • ESMERA: European SMEs Robotics Applications. Main idea is to have a number of competence centers in Europe that give support to SMEs wanting to use robot technology.
  • AI DIH network: 30 DIHs across Europe with a focus on AI or robotics.
  • Ideal-ist: Not a DIH, but a "knowledge-hub” that can help you at every step on the way to submitting a proposal, and even after - when you're running a project.
