HighEFF Annual Consortium meeting

The Annual Consortium Meeting will be arranged 3rd and 4th May at NTNU Gløshaugen, Kjel 2, Kolbjørn Hejes vei 1E, Trondheim. Please note that there are two separate registration links for the two days (since day 1 is an open event)

Day 1 will be a public conference (in Norwegian only):

Energieffektivisering:
Slik vil industrien frigjøre 20Twh konfliktfri energi

Registration for day 1

You will meet and greet with people from industry, politicians, authorities and researchers on how we can make the industry become more energy efficient by utilizing surplus energy available.

We have more than 90 participants registered for this conference already – but there are still available seats – so please sign up as soon as possible!

Day 2 will be an internal HighEFF workshop

with technical presentations from HighEFF researchers (in English). We will also have the annual General Assembly meeting in the morning and an Executive Board meeting in the afternoon.

The detailed program for the workshop has been sent to you by e-mail from Ragnhild Sæterli.

Registration for day 2

Defence of Thesis 28th of April: Vegar Andersen

Vegar Andersen has submitted the following academic Thesis as part of the doctoral work at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Department of Materials Science and Engineering:
Flue Gas Recirculation for the Silicon Process
He will defend his Thesis Friday 28th of April in the presence of the assessment Committee consisting of Associate Professor Leili Tafaghodi (McMaster University, Canada), Senior Scientist Dr. Quinn Reynolds (MINTEK, South Africa) and Professor Hilde Johnsen Venvik (NTNU, Norway). Supervisors have been Prof. Gabriella Tranell and Prof. Kristian Etienne Einarsrud at NTNU, department of Materials Science and Engineering

Vegar has studied flue gas recirculation for the silicon process to evaluate the effect on the process, including CO2 concentration in the off-gas, possible future carbon capture technologies and reduced NOX emissions. The work has included theoretical studies and experiments, both on small scale to investigate the effect of different gas atmosphere on silica fume formations and on larger pilot-scale conducting FGR for silicon production to demonstrate the concept close to industrial conditions.

The public defence of the Thesis will take place on 28th of April at 13:15
Place: S7, Sentralbygg 2, NTNU Gløshaugen

The public trial lecture: 28th of April at 10:15
Place: S7, Sentralbygg 2, NTNU Gløshaugen
Topic: Current and future applications of carbon capture, use, and sequestration (CCUS) in ferroalloy pyrometallurgy

Trial lecture and defence can be followed online (PassCode: 622096)
