NorthWind kick off

June 16th – The NorthWind research centre on wind energy launched its activities today with its first General Assembly – a digital event, because of the current Covid-19 pandemic.

The centre’s research is divided into five work packages, whose leaders gave short presentations outlining their objectives for the next few years. The centre aims at making wind energy cheaper, more efficient and more sustainable. One of its main areas of focus is offshore wind research. ... Read more

Green Platform Ocean Grids was awarded 2 September
The project will develop new technology, knowledge and solutions to enable a profitable development of offshore wind on the Norwegian continental shelf. .. Read more

The Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry, Iselin Nybø, announced that the Ocean Grid project (in Norwegian: Havnett) will get financial support of 82.7 million NOK, through the Green Platform scheme.

NorthWind Board elected
|
|
The NorthWind Centre Board was elected at the General Assembly 13 September. The board is elected for two years. It comprises of eight seats for the user partners – five of these go to the user partners with the highest financial contribution (cash and in-kind) and three are up for election. The board also has three seats for the research partners: one permanent seat for NTNU, one permanent seat for SINTEF and one seat that is up for election.

The DeepWind 2021 papers are published
|
Selected papers from the EERA DeepWind conference 2021 are now published with open access in the Journal of Physics: Conference Series volume 2018, 2021. The papers have undergone a careful peer-review process by the members of the Scientific Committee of EERA DeepWind, assessing originality, quality and relevance. In total, 44 papers are published addressing the topics of the conference.

NorthWind gets FME plaque from Research Council
|
|
Special advisor for the Research Council of Norway, Tone Ibenholt, formally handed over an FME plaque to NorthWind research centre leader John Olav Tande at a ceremony in Oslo. It happened during a meeting between representatives from all FME centres and the Research Council.
