Earl Goetheer, Principal Scientist/Professor, TNO/Technical University of Delft

Prof. dr. ir. Earl Goetheer graduated for his MSc. (specialization organic chemistry and process engineering) at the Wageningen University (the Netherlands) and has more than 20 years of experience in chemical engineering since. He obtained a PhD in chemical engineering from the Technical University of Eindhoven. Dr Goetheer is now working as principal scientist at TNO on the development of CO2 capture and utilization processes. Earl has been involved with CO2 capture at TNO starting from 2007 within a large variety of European projects (e.g. CESAR, OCTAVIUS, CEMCAP, ALIGN) and national projects (e.g. CATO). A significant part of his research has been devoted to solvent management ((aerosol) emission, solvent stability, reclaiming). He has published more than 100 publications and more than 50 patents related to process engineering. He has been appointed as part time professor at the Technical University of Delft on the field of CO2 utilisation in 2018. His research focus is on electrochemical conversion of CO2 to useful products.

Curtis M. Oldenburg, Senior Scientist, Head of Geologic Carbon Sequestration Program, Energy Geosciences Division, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory

Curt Oldenburg is a Senior Scientist and Head of the Geologic Carbon Sequestration Program at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. His area of expertise is numerical model development and applications for coupled subsurface flow and transport processes. Curt is the author of more than 100 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters, co-author of a textbook on CCS (Introduction to Carbon Capture and Sequestration, by Smit, Reimer, Oldenburg, and Bourg), and is the Editor in Chief for storage of Greenhouse Gases: Science and Technology. In 20 years of research on geologic carbon sequestration, Curt has worked on many topics including CO2-enhanced gas recovery, leakage and seepage modeling and monitoring in the shallow subsurface, pipeline and well leakage including well blowout modeling, and overall risk assessment.

Sam Krevor, Senior Lecturer, Imperial College London

Sam Krevor is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Earth Science & Engineering at Imperial College London. His research group uses laboratory observations and numerical modelling to investigate the subsurface fluid physics of CO2 migration and trapping. Prior to joining Imperial he received his B.S. and PhD in Environmental Engineering from Columbia University, and worked as a postdoctoral scholar in the Energy Resources Engineering Department of Stanford University.
